[CWB] CQPweb in a box - problems with uploading files

Thanks. 2 more questions before I start having a dig:

Did you use the “auto-mount” option in VirtualBox (in step 1)? Your comment about the vboxsf group suggests you did but I just want to check.

Could you post the full mount command you are using (in step 2) so I can compare it with the ones I have used?

Thanks

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I am helping our colleague to get this working. We found out the shared folders are mounted by default in /media. However, the mount point is empty. Therefore, we have done the following:

1. to configure the VM to share a host folder with the guest

http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html#sharedfolders

2. to mount the folder using the information in the virtualbox documentation

At this stage we can see in the expected mount point the contents of the shared folder. But whenever we click on a subfolder we get a permission error message.

I assume that CQPwebInABox comes with the guest additions installed, doesn't it? Should we update the guest additions?

We have also tried to add 'user' to the group 'vboxsf', but it didn't help.

Just for the record, I have installed a clean Ubuntu distro (15.10) and followed the same procedure installing the guest additions and it works fine for me.

Best,

jmm

Hi Andrew,

I cc the mail to my collegue - unfortunately she is not yet on the mailing list - as she can better answer you the question what exactly she did.

When you say "will not show" what do you mean? Do you mean that the shared folder failed to mount? If so, can you spell out what you did and at what point it didn’t work?

best

Andrew.

Hi all,

a collegue of mine has "successfully" install CQPweb in a box on her Mac
Laptop. But neither can we upload a file in CQPweb from her laptop, nor
can we transfer a file from her laptop to the VM. We also tried to
install a shared folder, but it will not show in the VM. The only way we
can get a file into the VM is: create a new file in the VM, open the
source file on the laptop, copy and past it to the created file.
There must be another way to do this, but we do not seem to be able to
find it, can you help us?

Thanks in advance
Hannah
