[CWB] Datatype of xml attributes in CQPweb

Thanks Noah for answering this query - actually, though, this is not designed behaviour, but a stopgap measure because I couldn't decide what the "right" behaviour would be.

There are three possibilities -

(1) The text metadata field takes its datatype from the existing datatype of the xml attribute (ie, as now, but more clearly explained!!)
(2) The xml datatype is ignored, and the user must indicate a new datatype for the imported text metadata field
(3) Or a halfway house: the default datatype shown on the form is set to that of the xml attribute, but the user is given the opportunity to change it.

If anyone has thoughts on which of these wuld be more intuitive, I would be glad to take them into account, as I do not really have any strong sense myself which of the above would be best. So, I'm open to comments....

best

Andrew.

Hi Simon,

you first have to switch to the "manage corpus xml" menu. There you can change the datatypes to "classification". Afterwards you are able to build the metadata tables using these fields as classifications.

Sorry for not having explained that in detail in my tutorial... ;-)

Best,
Noah

However, when I try to install metadata from within-corpus XML annotation, the datatype of all field handles is already fixed as free text and cannot be changed.
