Thanks, same  Ubuntu server 16.04 LTS

and those packages where installed, I've
reinstalled just in case but the problem persists

What is your operating system?  When I
installed cqp on a brand new Ubuntu server 16.04 LTS I had to   install the following
supporting packages (using apt-get install ...):  libarchive-ar-perl libncurses5-dev  Hope
