The Language Technology Group at the Technische Universität Darmstadt
and the Natural Language Processing Group at the University of Mannheim
invite applications for

Two post-doctoral researcher positions in STATISTICAL NLP / ONTOLOGY
LEARNING / INFORMATION EXTRACTION / MACHINE LEARNING:

The post-docs are expected to contribute to a new DFG-funded project -
JOIN-T (Joining Ontologies and semantics INduced from Text) - jointly
lead by Chris Biemann (TU Darmstadt) and Simone Paolo Ponzetto
(University of Mannheim) on combining ontological information from
large-scale knowledge bases (like Freebase, YAGO or DBpedia) with

web-scale) amounts of text.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in one or
several of the following areas:

* statistical semantic processing
* machine learning and knowledge acquisition
* ontology learning and population
* distributed large-scale processing

Applicants should have a PhD (or obtain it in the near future) in
Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web or Machine
Learning and have previous research experience in human language
technologies. The successful candidates have a strong research record in
these areas, they are expected to be capable of working under limited
supervision, and publish papers in top level conferences and journals
along with other members of the research group.

Duration: initially two years (starting in Fall 2014) with possible
extension of one year.

commensurate with experience and qualifications). Part-time positions
are possible.

Applications can be made per e-mail (joint.dfg at gmail.com) and should
include a short research statement, CV, copy of university degrees, list
of publications and published software. Further information about the
groups can be found at http://www.lt.tu-darmstadt.de/ and
http://web.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/nlp. All documents should be

will receive full consideration. The positions remain open until filled.

The Universities of Mannheim and Darmstadt are committed to increase the
