CogALex-V Shared Task on the Corpus-Based Identification of Semantic Relations
Submission deadline: 15 October 2016
The organizers of the COLING 2016 Workshop CogALex-V are pleased to announce a Shared Task on the Corpus-Based Identification of Semantic Relations. Semantic relations play an important role in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and in human lexical retrieval. Corpus-based approaches to semantic relation identification do not only help to perform NLP tasks, but they can also shed light on the organization of the mental lexicon.
The shared task takes the form of a “friendly competition” in which participants evaluate their own models. It is divided into two subtasks aimed at identifying whether two words are semantically related and which particular relation holds between them, respectively. A dataset extracted from EVALution 1.0 (Santus et al. 2015) is provided for training and testing of the models. Short papers describing systems and evaluation results must be submitted by 15 October 2016 together with the system output. All papers that meet the formal review criteria will be published in the workshop proceedings. The organizers invite teams to express their interest in participating in the Shared Task by sending an e-mail to esantus at gmail.com before the 26th of September, when the test data and the evaluation scripts will be released.
