[CWB] Setting up subcorpora

Hello all, 
Apologies in advance for asking what is, I suspect, a silly question... 
My corpus is set up with a number of <text id> and </text> markers, and I'd like to be able to restrict searches if necessary to one of these texts within the main corpus. I managed it once on a first version of the same corpus... but no matter what I do, can't seem to get there again. 
As always, any help will be gratefully appreciated.
