[CWB] Problem granting privileges

It’s not done automatically because there is no reason to assume that the administrator would want three new privileges for each corpus. Often, it might be better to add the new corpus to the scope of existing privileges. (This is especially the case when you have lots of corpora).

Och .. thanks for reminding me of "Manage privileges"! (Guess I would not have forgotten that step if those privileges get generated automatically after a new corpus is installed. Or maybe they aren't for an important reason?)
I manually added users because I failed to remember that important step, and connecting to MySQL as root was also a desperate attempt to solve the problem. Thanks a lot Andrew!

Did you actually create a privilege covering the new corpus? This is not done automatically. You need to do it using “Manage privileges”.

Also, on an unrelated issue,

>>>2. I created the cqpweb_db users explicitly in mysql, and these users all have select privilege to cqpweb_db;

I don’t understand. Why do you need more than one MySQL user for the cqpweb_db? Or are you referring to CQPweb usernames? IT is not a good idea to create these manually in MySQL. You should use the CQPweb functions.

>>> in config.inc.php, $mysql_webuser is set to admin (superuser)

It is a bad bad bad idea to have CQPweb connect to MySQL as administrator (root), if I have correctly understood that that is what you are doing. It is a huge security hole.

Hi
When I tried granting privileges to user groups ("everyone", and a group called "graduate") I couldn't find the name of a newly installed corpus in the "Select privilege" drop down list. I don't know which information could help with diagnosis; I guess the following might be relevant:
1. the cqpweb_db database was re-created using the mysqldump method, not constructed bit by bit;
2. I created the cqpweb_db users explicitly in mysql, and these users all have select privilege to cqpweb_db;
3. in config.inc.php, $mysql_webuser is set to admin (superuser).
Thanks for any help!
