Ah, very good to know it is only a temporary outage! Thanks a million for the swift response, Jiajin. Let me know when the upgrade is complete and I’ll swop the archive link back to the live site.

best

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Due to my university server upgrading, the www.bfsu-corpus.org<http://www.bfsu-corpus.org> site has been redirected to the university homepage temporarily. I hope it will be recovered soon. Thanks for pointing to the cached archive.org<http://archive.org> page of www.bfsu-corpus.org/content/cqpweb-family<http://web.archive.org/web/20170118202516/www.bfsu-corpus.org/content/cqpweb-family>.

Best,

Jiajin

A delayed follow up on this website issue.

FIRST: Thanks for catching the broken links, Andrés.

I note that both these sites have switched over from using customised CWB-based web interfaces (which is what was at the old links), to making use of CQPweb.

On the one hand this is a good thing – the very purpose of making CQPweb part of the CWB project was to give people an off-the-shelf online interface as part of CWB, rather than them being forced to reinvent the wheel creating site-specific new interfaces over and over again.

I take the fact that people are moving away from custom interfaces to CQPweb to be an indication that CQPweb is doing better over time at covering as many people’s different use-cases as possible – which is one of our aims for the system of course.

On the other hand, it means that these two sites no longer really belong on the “online demos” list any more- as this list is supposed to be for illustrative examples of non-CQPweb interfaces. So I’ve left them on the list for now, but flagged them as now using CQPweb.

There has been a separate list of CQPweb servers worldwide maintained by Xu Jiajin at www.bfsu-corpus.org/content/cqpweb-family<http://www.bfsu-corpus.org/content/cqpweb-family> which we have linked to from the cwb.sf.net<http://cwb.sf.net> site – and we’ve been very grateful for this contribution! However, I note this site is offline at the moment –www.bfsu-corpus.org<http://www.bfsu-corpus.org> seems to redirect to the BFSU homepage.

I know Jiajin is a reader of this list so he may be able to let us know if there is any prospect of that very useful page coming back?

If not perhaps someone else on the list would be prepared to maintain a list of links to active servers with publically accessible corpora? It is, I’m afraid, not a job that Stefan or I have time for…

In the meantime, I have changed the link on the site to the cached copy of the BFSU site Wayback Machine:

http://web.archive.org/web/20170118202516/www.bfsu-corpus.org/content/cqpweb-family

… so people can still find a static copy of the list.

best

Andrew.

Sorry, you also have

CucWeb<http://ramsesii.upf.es/cucweb/> – a Web corpus of Catalan texts (UPF Barcelona)

also pointing to a dead server, this corpus is now here:

Cátedra Telefónica corpus of the use of Catalan on the Web<http://parles.upf.edu/llocs/cqp/cucweb/>

at this same server there are also some other corpus like

Castellà medieval<http://parles.upf.edu/llocs/cqp/oldes/>

Thanks again

Hi there, at the demos page you have:

BancTrad<http://mutis2.upf.edu/bt/english/> – translated texts in multiple languages (UPF Barcelona)

which is pointing to a dead server, the correct url is : https://iac.upf.edu/

Here you will find the IAC (Corpus Access Interface) interface containing the BancTrad Corpora

Thanks...
