Hi Peter,

This is great - thank you. I was wondering a while back if anyone had tried CWB out on the Windows-Subsystem-for-Linux, as I have not yet had time to have a go with that myself. It sounds like it works exactly as one would wish!

One thing to note re your instructions is that it is now possible to install CQPweb without the CWB-Perl - as CQPweb only uses the Perl modules to parse simple (CEQL) queries, and I spent a chunk of the Christmas break translating the CEQL parser into PHP in order to end that dependency. You can enable the new, internal parser with this config option :

          $use_the_new_ceql = true;

This is false by default at the moment, will become true by default after I've broken it in* and eventually the option of using the external Perl parser will be removed.

For new installs by people who don't have any other need for the Perl modules, however, using the new CEQL right away simplifies the installation process.

best

Andrew.

* Currently the Lancaster CQPweb server is running in a special mode where it parses simple queries through both the Perl and PHP parsers, and emails me if the result is different. A few false alerts but nothing serious so far. A few weeks of this, and I will make the internal CEQL parser the default.

Subject: [CWB] Installation Guide for CQPweb in Windows

Dear all,

If you would like to install CQPweb on a Windows 10 machine, here is a guide for the current version from the repository:
http://peter-uhrig.de/cqpweb-on-windows-10-wsl/

It assumes a very basic familiarity with editing files in Linux, apart from that it should be okay. It is just a condensed version of Andrew's detailed instructions, of course.

Feedback welcome - ideally via the mailing list.

Best wishes,
Peter
