Dear Graham,
I am currently working with a corpus of Mapudüngun that can be accessed via
a CQP-Web interface (https://www.chandia.net/iecmap/). The tagging
currently reflects Ineke Smeets' set of tags for affixes and roots. It is
acknowledged that traditional Western grammatical and lexical
classification does not always suit phenomena in Indo-American languages;
indeed, some of the components of these languages are quite idiosyncratic.
Research into Universal Dependencies (https://universaldependencies.org)
may be a fruitful exercise, and the set of tags best suited to Nahuatl
could then be applied.
I hope this comment helps you a little!
